Kundal Takes Over as Deputy Commissioner Kargil

Kargil, May 2018 / Vikas Kundal, IAS today took charge as Deputy Commissioner and CEO,LAHDC, Kargil. Kundal is a 2013 batch IAS officer and has served as Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar before.
After assuming the charge the DC today convened an introductory meeting of the district officers at Conference Hall Baroo and took stock of the working of various departments and examined the developmental works in the district. The DC directed the officers to work with missionary zeal to fulfill the aspirations of the people adding they must listen to people's demands and grievances for 2 hours daily during their  office hours. He impressed upon the officers to ensure that all government employees are present during their working hours in their respective offices so that the common man should not suffer. The DC also impressed upon the district officers to ensure that he is posted about the daily schedule and tour programme on regular basis further adding that the officers should be sensitive to the needs of the common people. Meanwhile on the direction of the DC, the district officers also put forth several issues pertaining to their respective departments. Responding to the issues the DC assured resolution of all genuine demands in a phased manner.The officers were further directed to ensure proper redressal of cases under Public Service Guarantee Act, submission of the data of Ladakh Supplies on daily basis and timely submission of Monday Reports. 




Shaheed Murtaza Mutahhary Day Observed

Kargil, May 2018 (News Desk, VOL):  Shaheed Mutahhary Day which is celebrated on 2nd May every year but this year due to Shab-e-Barat on 2nd May it was celebrated on 4th May.  This programme was organized at MPS Primary Department, Kargil.The programme was beautifully anchored by the teacher of MPS Primarhy Deptt. Mrs Hawa Bee.
 The event started with Tilawat-e-Quran by Mohd Hassanain of class 5th. All the guests and other participants  were welcomed by Miss Khairoon in her  welcome speech. Speeches in different languages: in English by Ummul Baneen,  urdu by Mohammed and  Persian by Hakima Banoo were delivered. Tarana was sung by Toyiba and Ahmad Ali. Devotional Song was sung by Abida and her group. The Honourable Guest Hujatul Islam walmuslimeen Sheikh Bashir Shakir gave speech on this occasion. Devotional Song were also sung by Hassanain and Amina Bano.Then principal Mr Mohd Younus gave speech on this occasion and thanked all staff and students and guests. At last Sheikh Sadiq Qurbani offered Dua-e-Khair. 
The programme was concluded with the MES Tune/anthem. Refreshment  was also provided to the students on this day.

Nubra To Have Electricity In Next 2 Years:    Dorjey

Leh, May 2018, (News Desk, VOL): Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs Chering Dorjey on his second day of tour to Nubra Valley visited the Skuru and Tertse villages in the morning today. He was accompanied with EC Tourism Tsering Sandup, Councilor Hunder Kunzang Lotos, Tehsilder and officers of Nubra sub-division. Addressing the gathering the Minister mentioned about around 150 new schemes launched by BJP government in India and urged upon people to step forward to avail benefit the schemes applicable in Ladakh. He stressed upon the role of Councilors in creating awareness among the villagers and to make these schemes available to them. Expressing hopes to provide 24 hours electricity in Nubra Valley in next two years Tsering Dorjey mentioned about 200 KV transmission line at the approval stage by centre government to connect Nubra with Northern Grid through Pheyang village. He said that with 24 hours electricity facility Nubra will have promising business opportunities and other advantages for people and youth in particular. Speaking about NCDC scheme, the Minister informed that mass awareness campaigns would be conducted soon in  He also mentioned about the issue Nubra to educate people about this scheme. He urged upon the farmers and cooperative societies to take initiative in learning and availing benefits of this scheme.  take up with centre government to re-release the fund under AIBP scheme to complete the major irrigation canals in Nubra that were left incomplete by previous council. He expressed hope to get the sanction for funds to complete the remaining work shortly. EC Sandup expressed gratitude to the Minister for immense contribution for Nubra valley in terms of financial support and otherwise. He mentioned about the financial assistance given to labourers that include scholarship and marriage assistance to their children and insurance schemes. He appealed to villagers engaged in labour work to ensure making job cards to avail these benefits. He also urged the villagers specifically women to make Artisan Credit Card to avail low interest loan to do handicraft works. He mentioned about Ujjwala scheme and urged the deserving people to get them registered with gas dealer to avail the benefit. Councilor Hunder Kunzang Lotos apprised the Minister of the problems drinking water, irrigation channels and mobile tower in Skuru and Tertse villages. He expressed hope to get BSNL tower installed in these villages using solar power for which MP Ladakh Thupstan Tsewang has committed to give fund. The Minister instructed the Councilor to take up small matters at Council level and assured his intervention to follow up cases at state and centre level. He directed the concern officer to release fund under district budget to complete the school building of Tertse Middle School which he visited. Tsering Dorjey also visited villages of Skamphuk, Hunder and Partapur last evening. He urged villagers of Hunder to cooperate with administration in making Tsangda project successful in Nubra. He assured the public of addressing their problem.

Hajj Committee Directs Deposit Of Money

Kargil, April 2018(News Desk, VOL): The State Hajj Committee J&K Srinagar in a recent notification, directed the selected Hajj pilgrims of Kargil district to deposit balance amount of Rs 2,01,450/- for Green category and Rs 1,67,300/- for Azizya category into the Account No:- 32175020010 through any branch of the State Bank of India in appropriate pay in slip. It has further been informed that pilgrims who have opted for Qurbani (Adahi) coupons of IDB will have to pay additional amount of Rs 8000/- each.         
Besides the repeater pilgrims who have performed Hajj/Umrah in the past will have to pay additional amount of Rs 2000/- i, e Rs 35,202/-. According to the notification the balance amount must be deposited into the Account No: 32175020010 by or before 25th of May, 2018 and the pay-in-slip has to be submitted at Deputy Commissioner's office Kargil.

Baqirya Launches 2nd Phase Of Hepatitis B Vaccination 
Kargil, 3 May, 2018(News Desk,VOL):  Baqirya Health Care and Research Centre Kargil (BHCRC), a non- governmental organization and health wing of Imam Khomeni Trust Kargil, had last year initiated a massive campaign and concrete steps to completely eradicate Hepatitis B from Kargil district and they had started this initiative from Shargole and Pashkum blocks of Kargil district. This initiative included providing awareness to the people about Hepatitis B and provision of Hepatitis B vaccine free of cost. This was provided by BHCRC through its teams of volunteers, para-medics and doctors to thousands of people.
This initiative was highly appreciated by all the stake holders. This year BHCRC plans to cover Shakar-Chiktan Sub Division and Batalik and some areas of Sot Block.  In this regard BHRC had organized meeting at its premises at Biamathang, today. The meeting was attended by Asgar Ali Karbalai, Member of Legislative Assembly, Kargil who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, Sheikh Mohammed Mohqiq, Chairman, Guardian Council, IKMT, Sheikh Bashir Shakri, Vice Chairman, (Religious Affiars) IKMT, Sheikh Hamid Nasri, Mohd Salim Wazir, Tehsildar Kargil, Dr Vilayat Ali, President and executive members of BHC&RC, doctors, para-medics, donors and volunteers of BHC&RC Kargil. On this occasion Sheikh Mohammed Mohqiq, Chairman, Guardian Council, IKMT, inaugurated the newly launched website of BHC&RC. And Mr. Gulzar Danish elaborated about the web site on its use and benefits through a power point presentation.  Speaking on the occasion, Asgar Ali Karbalai, the Chief Guest, and appreciating the efforts of BHC&RC, he said, 'Kargil is far ahead from others,  in terms of vision and concrete steps taken; as the team of BHC&RC has taken such an initiative which the World Health Organization (WHO) has hesitated to so far. Elaborating, he added that BHC&RC has decided to completely eradicate Hepatitis B from Kargil by 2020  and WHO is still thinking of eradication of 65% this disease by 2020. Appreciating the efforts of the volunteers of BHC&RC, he said that these volunteers are the back bone of BHC&RC. He also urged the volunteers to maintain their high standard of sense of duty and commitment and provide their best support to the doctors and the para-medics working for BHC&RC in the interest of the general public. He further said that Shakar-Chiktan is a vast area and they should put in their best and perform to the best of their abilities and high standard of commitment shown on all such occasion. He also said that volunteers and the doctors not to give ear to rumors rather they should focus on their objectives and perform their duties. This programme earlier had begun with the recitation of Holy Quran. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Vilayat Ali, President, BHC&RC, elaborated on the successful campaign and provision of vaccination in Pashkum and Shargole Blocks done earlier and also spoke in detail about the coming up campaign in Shakar-Chiktan, Batalik and Sot areas. He also spoke on why its is important to eradicate this disease in   the district. And he also spoke about the initiatives taken earlier by BHC&RC including awareness workshops and meetings on prevention and treatment regarding this disease conducted  in Schools, colleges and religious congregations. He also said that BHC&RC took the decision to vaccinate the target groups after completing the awareness programme. This, he said was done in collaboration with a voluntary organization namely Al-Iman Foundation.  
 He also informed that the team of doctors, volunteers and  para-medics would proceed to Shakar Chiktan on 4th of April and would cover Batalik, Chulichan and Sot areas apart from Shakar-Chiktan. Concluding the programme, Dr. Ahmed Ali extended gratitude and thanks to the guests for their participation and also urged and requested the local media for providing coverage to the campaign in the days to come . This programme was facilitated by Mr. Vilayat Ali.

CEC Kargil for Thrust on Mother Tongue
Kargil April, 2018 (News Desk,VOL): Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan today said that thrust needs to be given to mother tongue in common every day conversations as well as intellectual discourses at home and school so that the younger generation is kept abreast of the vernacular linguistic expressions. The CEC stated this while speaking on the inaugural day of the 2 Day District Level Multilingual Mushaira sessions organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Kargil at Language Centre here today.  While underlining the importance of language and vernacular expressions as intrinsic components that to a great deal determine the identity of a community or race, the CEC said that it is the responsibility of parents and teachers to ensure that the younger generation is imparted knowledge and information in the mother tongue as much as in Urdu and English.  
Kacho also stressed for revival of the Ee Gay script and said that Hill Council is fully committed to the promotion and preservation of culture adding all out continued support shall be extended to the Academy in this regard. The CEC also hailed the efforts of Cultural Academy Kargil for having organized the two day literary event and expressed hope that this would on the one hand further the process of interaction among intellectuals besides giving fillip to the art of poetry in vernacular languages. Meanwhile during the first day of the literary event around 25 young and old poets from across the district recited their fresh poetic renderings in Urdu, Balti, Purgi and Shina/Dardi languages which were highly applauded by the guests and the audiences alike.  Assistant Commissioner Development Kargil Barkat Ali Lone Nizami, a number of officers from the civil and police administration, writers, poets, intellectuals, students and a large number of literary enthusiasts were present on the occasion.   Pertinently around 60 poets from across the district are participating in the poetic sessions mainly based on the onset of spring season and other related themes.  

Prominent Activists From PDP And Congress joins NC: Claims NC 
KARGIL,5 May, 2018(News Desk, VOL): As per a press release issued to media by National Conference, Kargil  media wing, a mega  programme of National Conference Kargil was held at TFC Bemathang here, in which large number of prominent activities of PDP and Congress from different parts of District Kargil along with hundreds of their supporters joined the party in presence of District President, Haji Hanifa Jan, Former Minister Qamar Ali Akhoon, Former Minister Feroz Ahmad Khan and other senior party leaders. Haji Hanifa Jan welcomed the new entrants into the party fold and hoped that their joining will further strengthen the party at the grass roots level. He said the doors of the party are always open for all those who believe in the programme and policies of the party and want to serve the people with sincerity of purpose.
 He also urged party worker to come up in large number to show party's strength in upcoming rally at Drass and Kargil which is to be addressed by Working President and Former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.Welcoming new entrants into party, Qamar Ali Akhoon and Feroz Ahmad Khan said that their joining into party fold will surely strengthen the party at grass root level in every part of the district. Both Mr. Akhoon and Feroz Ahmad Khan said that the present coalition government in State as well as local Hill Council has failed on all fronts despite making lofty promises. They said that National Conference alone can steer Jammu and Kashmir State from the present mess and ensure agenda of peace, progress and development. Party Spokesperson and Vice President Ghulam Rasool Nagvi, Block President and Councilor Tai-Suru Syed Abass Rizvi, Party Advisor Shargole Block Dr. Kacho Mohamad Hussain also spokes on the occasion and welcomed the new entrants into the party fold and garlanded them. Prominent among those who joined the National Conference include founding member of PDP Mohd Abass from Poyen and his supporter, 30 families (both Congress and PDP supporter) from Poyen, 10 families (PDP supporter) from Sodh and Akchamal, 5 families from Hundurman Brok, 9 families from Pashkum under the leadership one of the active Congress supporter Mr. Mohd Javed, 5 families from Shilikchey, 6 families from Minji under the leadership of Mohd Ibrahim Congress supporter, 5 families from Skamboo (Congres supporter) and others. Those present on the occasion included Party Councilors, Senior Leaders, District Committee Members, Block Presidents and their executives and large number of party worker.

EJAC Extends Support To Strike By Clerical Cadre 
 Kargil, May 2018 (News Desk, VOL): The EJAC Kargil has decided to extend their support to the clerical cadre and have threatened to observe complete strike of all cadres if the government fails to resolve the genuine issue of the employees. All the clerical cadre working in different departments in Kargil are on strike due to non removal of pay anomaly by the Government which has been time and again agreed in principle on the recommendations of two high level committees constituted by the Government. The present Government had also agreed to remove the anomalies with 7th pay commission but failed to fulfill the commitment .The clerical cadre of Kargil have also expressed their resentment and have observed complete strike in the district along with other parts of the state and wants to continue the same until their long pending issue is addressed by the Government. The strike of the clerical cadre in the district has paralysed the government offices in the district and as a result the general public is suffering hugely.
